The Spiritual Importance of Navratri Day 3

On the third day of Navratri, devotees worship Maa Chandraghanta, the third form of Goddess Durga. She symbolizes bravery, grace, and tranquility. Her name comes from the crescent moon (Chandra) adorning her forehead, shaped like a bell (Ghanta). Maa Chandraghanta rides a tiger and is known for her fierce yet compassionate nature. Worshiping her is believed to remove obstacles, bring peace, and enhance spiritual strength.

Rituals and Worship Method for Maa Chandraghanta

  1. Morning Preparation – Devotees wake up early, bathe, and wear clean clothes, preferably in white or red, symbolizing purity and strength.
  2. Puja Setup – Place an idol or image of Maa Chandraghanta on a clean altar with a red cloth. Light a diya (lamp) with ghee.
  3. Offerings (Bhog) – Prepare and offer milk, sweets made of milk, or kheer, as these are considered dear to the Goddess.
  4. Chanting Mantras – Recite the following mantra to seek Maa Chandraghanta’s divine blessings:“Pindah Pravarudha Chandakopastrakairyuta |
    Prasadam Tanute Mahyam Chandraghanteti Vishruta ||”
  5. Aarti & Prayer – Conclude the puja with aarti, conch blowing, and ringing bells to invoke divine energies.
